Lasher Photography by Salvador Hernandez
A Self Portrait
I am definitely not one to be in front of the camera but recently early in the morning after being up for an extremely long time... I decided to pick up my camera and snap a few pictures of myself. It was an attempt to create an image that expressed how I viewed myself at the moment. I think I nailed it quite well.
I was pretty oily and in need of a bath before hitting the sack for a good 12 hour (or so) sleep. I think the shot kinda displays exactly the feel of the moment. A little sleep deprived and exhausted.
What do you think? Feel free to leave some feedback if you will.

First attempt at Venue Photography
I was asked to go to Modesto, CA to photograph at a nightclub there. So I made the arrangements and made my way from Fresno to Modesto. I was under the impression that I would be photographing another nightlife event but when I arrived, I quickly learned I was photographing something different.
Needless to say, since I was expecting to photograph people dancing, drinking, and having a good time... I was not prepared for the shots I was expected to take. Being that I was about two hours from home and didn't have the equipment I needed, such as a tripod, I was forced to made do with what I had (camera, lens, single external flash unit).
Overall, I was hired to photograph the venue while it was empty so the client could use the images for future promotions. Without a tripod and studio lights (light stands, umbrellas, wireless flash units), I had a difficult time getting quality shots. Most of the time, I found myself leaning against walls and any type of stationary objects which I could use to minimize camera movement. Most of the shots I took this day were without flash and utlizing slow shutter speeds.
I had originally had this album unlisted in the gallery and only available to the client. But recently, I decided to make it public to show my progress from then to now. Feedback is appreciated. Esepcially from fellow photographers who have done this sort of work.
Hip Hop Artist Portraits
So I was asked to accompany a fellow photographer on a photoshoot that he was doing of some local Hip Hop Rap artists. The location was at various areas of Fresno's downtown region. I was mostly there to lend my equipment and guide him on how to use a professional setup. It was quite an experience.
I know I am not the most veteran photographer but I do know a little something that I am willing to share with others. I definitely am not like most of the other local photographers that I have come in contact with. They tend to not like to share information as they consider such information to be their Trade Secrets and are afraid that someone will be better than them.
That is not the case with me. I encourage the personal development of others who I am associated with and I am happy to give them a hand. I can only hope that they do excell and supercede me. If that happens, I can only hope that they reciprocate and share new techniques and tricks with me.
Anyhow, I did manage to snap a couple shots from this day. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment on them with some feedback.

"I met Sal Hernandez on MySpace through a friend. After seeing how good his work was, I set up an appointment to take some pictures with my boyfriend. When I arrived to his studio, I met his wife Vero and she was hella cool and I really clicked with her. I felt really comfortable at his studio and the session went well. Not only is Lasher Photography great, the hair and make up his wife does is excellent. I recommend him to anyone that needs professional pictures."
