Lasher Photography by Salvador Hernandez

Project Overload

I have so many projects on the back burner right now. I need to organize these things and actually get paid for my work. Some of my projects are close to 6 months old. What a damn shame. Ah well, I plan to have everything sorted out and resolved soon. Right now is the holiday seasons and I have someone to please. I haven't really celebrated a x-mas season or new years event in a long time. I feel it is time to change that. This year, I will not allow the holidays to pass by without notice.

Regarding my Photo Gallery project, which was mentioned before, I have pretty much completed it. Woo Hoo. Over 10,000 images online and viewable to friends and family. I have not made the location public to the world as there are a lot of personal images within the albums. If you are a friend or family and have an interest, or are just plain bored, shoot me an email or message somehow and I will share the location with you.

In case I go another month without posting an entry here, I wish all my visitors Very Happy Holidays.

Personal Project

I have been spending a lot of time on a personal project over the past couple of days. I figure it is time to take some time for myself. I have been wanting to put my photos, which I have taken over the past years, online. Figuring that I own my own server, I shouldn't need to worry about space or bandwidth. So far I have uploaded over 6,000 images and have created over 150 photo albums. I have let a few friends know of the website address of my new photo gallery. So far I have received good compliments. I have no specific reason for wanting to do this. Not trying to become someone famous and not trying to come off as being self centered. Just something I have been wanting to do for a couple years now. I am always doing things for others... I figured it is time to do something for myself.

On another note, I am a few days away from commencing my trip to California. It has been close to a year since I have seen any family. I used to visit the family on two occasions a year. It used to be a ritual for me but as of lately, I have been finding myself with struggles and conflicts which do not allow me to make the trips. Ah well, I hope that all changes as I have gone in a new direction with my life and choices. As mentioned before, the skies are looking clearer. The things we want ussually do not happen overnight. I am sure there is good reason for that.

CFC - Combined Federal Campaign

I feel pretty good about an action I did today. A representative for an organization called CFC (Combined Federal Campain) spoke to me about donating to charities. Normally, over the past years, I have blown this off. Well, this time, I decided to donate to specific causes. I took the brochure and read through the several organizations and decided to put my money towards organizations. Below is a list of organizations I have setup a monthly deduction from my payroll to help support them.
1018 - Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC) 210-732-2156 www.maccsa.org EIN#74-1712528 - Since 1972, nationally recognized institute empowering and educating leaders for culturally diverse communities. I plan to make this an annual thing for me. I should have started this a very long time ago. Well, at least I have started now.

Computer Upgrades

It's funny to me that I can not seem to get time or funds to upgrade my computer. I am able to work on several other people's computers for them and help them upgrade but I can not do my own. My father ends up sending me parts in the mail so I can upgrade my computer. What a shame. I really need to get back on top of my financial situation so I can do things on my own. Anyhow, my father sent me a video card a while back and when looking at the specs on the thing, it should have worked. But it didn't. The card is brand new, out of the box, but did not work in my machine. Months later, yesterday, I checked my PO box and there was another vid card. My father sent me a second video card to try out. As soon as I got home, I shutdown my PC and opened the box. I was impressed at the look of this new card. It has a gold fan on it. I immediately thought to myself, "Damn, this must be a good card". So anyways, I opened up the side panel of my computer and pulled out my ancient S3 video card and replaced it with this huge long shiny thing. I quickly plugged my monitor up and started the computer. Everything worked fine! 100% flawless upgrade. I immediately went to check the quality of video by launching the Media Player and selecting one of the many downloaded movies. YES! I can now see a movie! Woo Hoo... I was only able to hear them before the upgrade.

Yep, that was the most excitement this past week. I immediately started up PhotoShop and started playing with some stuff. The resolution settings on my desktop are set to maximum and I love it. So much room and desktop area to play with. After playing with some of my art that I drew back in the day and reading a few threads on Soy Chicano, I decided to open a new store front on cafePress. Visitors to this site are invited to check it out. I will be adding to it later on. I just started it for now.

Christmas Photo

I was very suprised to find out that one of my photographs was used in a Promo for an online company which sells Boat Covers. Check out more info at istock. I have a growing portfolio there which I am always trying to add to as time goes by. I love seeing my photos being used like this. :D

"I met Sal Hernandez on MySpace through a friend. After seeing how good his work was, I set up an appointment to take some pictures with my boyfriend. When I arrived to his studio, I met his wife Vero and she was hella cool and I really clicked with her. I felt really comfortable at his studio and the session went well. Not only is Lasher Photography great, the hair and make up his wife does is excellent. I recommend him to anyone that needs professional pictures."
